Welcome Address

Inland Water transport is one of the main modes of transport, it is the cheapest and the least pollutant to the environment.
Many countries having navigation rivers and inland water ways are vastly employing them in the transport of goods and passengers as for example the rivers of Rhein, Danube in Europe, the Mississippi in USA, St-Laurence in Canada and Volga river in Russia and many other inland water ways.
Therefore and due to the importance of this mode of transport, the Arab Institute of Navigation organizes its biennial International Navigation Conference “Melaha 2006” “the Inland Water Transport” including the safety of navigation and the development of its infrastructure and the upgrading of the human element.
AIN choose the city of “LUXOR” which is situated on the River Nile to held this conference, it is an active center for river transport and is the famous touristic center where 30% of ancient Egyptian wonders are placed there.

Conference General Information

• Conference venue and date:

The conference sessions and exhibition will be held at the Meridian hotel (*****) during the period from 15 to 17 May 2006.

• Registration Fees.
• 500 EUR per person
• 300 EUR for Spouse

Registration Fees, attending conference sessions and exhibition, obtaining conference lectures and publications. Lunches and refreshment drinks during the three days conferences period. Also attending the reception and welcome party.

• Exhibition

An Exhibition will accompany the conference, exhibiting various activities, equipments and apparatuses used in modern inland water transport.

• Exhibition Charges.

1000 EUR per booth ( 4 SQ meters ) including supply of electric current, meals for the attendant.
(Reduction of 10% of the charges for more than one booth)

• Hotel accommodation :

Special rates were obtained for the conference participants at 2 hotels in the city of luxor Reservations to be effected through the Conference Organizing Committee

• Tours:

Tours and Sight seeing will be arranged to visit Karnack & Luxor temples through designated travel agency also Kings Valley on the west bank of the Nile. Other trips can be arranged.
(Tour prices will be declared during the conference)

• Reception party :

Will be arranged for all the participants & spouses on Sunday 14th May at 2030 in meridian hotel

• Conference working languages

English and Arabic language are used for lecturing and discussions. Instant translation will be available

• Entry visa to Egypt :

Entry visa is necessary and can be obtained at Cairo air port on arrival.

• Weather :

During may weather in luxor is warm by day and pleasant cool in evening .
Light clothes in recommended

The Arab Institute of Navigation

The institute is a Non Governmental, Non Profit making society established in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1978. The founder of this Institute was the late commodore Sadek whose endeavor with the collaboration of many sincere members have placed the institute as an active body among the local, regional and the international community.
One unique feature of the institute is retrieving back the glory of The Arab Navigators of the old days and spreading the art of the new science of navigation in Arabic and other languages
